SUMMARY:MOROCCO ROAD TRIP
DESCRIPTION:M O R O C C O\n  \nMorocco isn’t a large country\, but there’s plenty to see. It’s home to dozens of intriguing ancient cities and a wide variety of landscapes\, including dramatic mountain ranges\, sweeping areas of desert\, and long coastlines along the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. In seven days\, we will pick an interest and run with it. Hike through gorges and get up close to the highest peak in North Africa\, linger in the jewelled cities of northern Morocco or make your way along old caravan routes into the desert. \n  \nDay 1(17-Oct): Casablanca \nDay 2(18-Oct): Rabat (day trip) \nDay 3(19-Oct): Chefchaouen–Meknes-Fes  \nDay 4(20-Oct): Fes- City Tour \nDay 5(21-Oct): Fes-Ifrane Midelt- Ziz Oasis-Merzouga Desert \nDay 6 (22-Oct): Rissani- Todgha Gorges – Dades Valley \nDay 7 (23-Oct): Valley of Roses- Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech \nDay 8(24-Oct): Marrakech City Tour \nDay 9(25-Oct): Fly back \n  \nDay 1  Casablanca\nToday\, we will land in Casablanca and check-in at the hotel. Post some rest\, we shall start our city exploration. \nBeautiful palm trees line its paths\, with the Atlantic Ocean over the horizon\, and large business buildings in every corner: Casablanca is the economic lung of Morocco\, a bustling metropolis. \nModern infrastructures are in the middle of charming districts\, between Arab-Muslim heritage and legacies of the colonial period. Discover all the possibilities: take a stroll in the medina\, which is one of the latest medinas built in Morocco\, roam through the centre and its art-deco buildings\, and join the Hassan II mosque; the splendid of architecture built on the water. \nHighlights : \n\nHassan 2 Mosque\nCathedral Du Sacre Coeur\nAdmire Downtown Casablanca’s Architecture\nMedina(Old city)\nCentral Market & Souq Haboos\n\nStay in Casablanca \n\nDay 2 Casablanca – Rabat – & Chafchaouen\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nToday\, we will drive from Casablanca toward Rabat. The current capital and one of the imperial cities of Morocco. We will first visit the Oudaya Kasbahs\, an authentic fortress against the Atlantic Ocean. Next\, we take a walk inside the Hassan Tower. Rabat’s most prominent landmark and next to the tower\, we will have the chance to take a look at the Mausoleum of the former kings of the Royal Family. We then move to the Royal palace where the current royal family is based. Next\, a visit to the Chalah \nwhich is a Phoenician sloping site above the Bou Regreg river.\nNext\, we will head off to Chefchaouen and drive through the green fields of wheat and barley\, and the spectacular scenery of the Rif Mountains. \nBy evening\, we will arrive at Chefchaouen\, a beautifully perched city beneath the peaks of the Rif Mountains with its blue washed houses and streets. We will drop you at your accommodation\, rest and then\, treat yourself with a memorable walk inside the prettiest town in Morocco. \nStay in Chefchaouen \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDay 3 Chefchaouen-Meknes-Fes\n\n\n\n\nToday\, you will have some time in the morning to explore the Blue city of Chefchaouen before we continue toward Fes. The most historical and cultural city in Morocco. \nAs we leave Chefchaouen\, we will drive through the Rif mountains to reach the Roman ruins of Volubilis\, an archaeological site dating back to the 3rd century BC. \nAfter visiting the Roman site\, we will drive to the whitewashed town of Moulay Idriss and it is Morocco’s most pilgrimage site.\nThen\, we will continue driving to reach Meknes. AUNISCO site and the most fortified imperial city in Morocco. We will visit the highlight sites of the city among which are the famous gate of Bab Mansour\, The Qara prison\, L’hdim square\, and Sehrij E’ssouani. At the end of the day we will arrive in Fes and drop you in your accommodation in the middle of the old city of Fes. \nStay in Fes \n\n\n\n\n\nDay 4 Menkes & Fes\nMeknes is a city in northern Morocco. It’s known for its imperial past\, with remnants including Bab Mansour\, a huge gate with arches and mosaic tiling. The gate leads into the former imperial city. The Mausoleum of Sultan Moulay Ismail\, who made the city his capital in the 17th century\, has courtyards and fountains. To the south\, ruined Heri es-Souani is a vast structure once used as stables and for food storage. \n\n\n\n\nToday\, we will have a full day walking tour of the old city of Fes escorted by our official local guide.\nAs we navigate in the old city of Fes it is like stepping back in time. The city still has its charming heritage of traditional old way of life. \nWe will visit the Famous Blue gate named Bab Bou Jloud which is the entrance to Medina from the west. Then\, continuing to The Quaraouine Mosque which is one of the oldest universities in the world. Next\, a short walk down to the Madrasa Bou Inania. Fez’s finest theological college. \nWe then take a walk inside the Medina Souks which is the oldest marketplace where Fez’s most special hand craft goods are all over the place.\nOur walk continues toward the Tanneries. One of Fez’ most iconic sights and a natural process of high-quality leather with almost the same methods since medieval times. \nOur guide is always there for you if you have anything else special to see or discover in the city. It’s primarily known for its Fes El Bali walled medina\, with medieval Marinid architecture\, vibrant souks and an old-world atmosphere. The medina is home to religious schools such as the 14th-century Bou Inania and Al Attarine\, both decorated with elaborate cedar carvings and ornate tile work. \nHighlights :\n\nMedina Exploration\nBab Boujeloud Blue Gate\nHenna Souk\nTraditional Leather Tanneries(Chouara Tanneries)\nKairaouine\nGolden Gate\nMedersa Bou Inania\nHammam Experience (optional)\nBelly Dancing Show(optional)\n\nStay in Fes \nDay 5 Fes-Ifrane Midelt- Ziz Oasis-Merzouga Desert\n\n\n\n\n\nEarly Morning\, we will meet you at your Riad and continue our tour to Merzouga Sahara Desert.Our first stop will be in Ifrane. Known as Switzerland of Morocco located in the Middle Atlas.\nModern\, clean and well ordered. And a few kilometres from the city is where the cedar tree forest of Azrou\, hosting a type of Macaque called the Barbary apes. We will have a moment to enjoy the monkeys before we get back on the road again.\nOur next stop will be in Midelt\, the country of apples. We will have lunch in this beautiful city and then drive through the Atlas Mountains alongside the Ziz Valley to reach the city of Er-Rachidia which is the gate to the Desert and the southern parts of\nMorocco. We will drive more south via the Ziz Oasis filled with palm tree groves and Berber villages along the way. We will reach Erfoud\, which is a place of fossils that dates back hundreds of million years\, and it is the last city before our main destination\, the Merzouga Desert.We will reach the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. A pleasant pit stop in our hotel in the dune lines before we head out on 4×4 car to our camp inside the dunes.Overnight in a desert camp inside the dunes with a traditional local music live show around the fire at night. \n\n\n\n\n\nStay in Desert\n\nDay 6 Rissani- Todgha Gorges – Dades Valley\n\n\n\n\nToday\, a morning walk to the tallest dune nearby to enjoy a spectacular sunrise\, then shower and breakfast before we leave the desert camp.\nAs we leave the desert\, our first stop will be in Rissani town which used to be one of Morocco first trading posts of gold and slaves. \nThe city also is an important commercial point with its crowded Souks and local markets. We will take a walk in the Souks and enjoy the authentic way of life that this small city offers. \nOur way then continues toward Tinghir\, a former trading place for the caravans many hundred years ago. Few kilometers from the city\, we will arrive at the Todgha Gorges. A natural rock formation of 300 meters canyons forming a limestone path filled with water coming from the roots of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. \nNext\, we drive through the road of thousands of Kasbahs to reach the country of figs; Dades. A beautiful scenery filled with different dramatic landscapes along the Dades valley. \nWe will spend the night inside the Dades Gorges and enjoy a spectacular view of the green fields filled with a lot of fig\, and walnut trees. \nStay in Dades valley \n\n\n\n\nDay 7 Valley of Roses- Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech\n\n\n\n\nAfter breakfast\, we will continue our tour toward Marrakech. We will drive via the Imgoun valley or the valley of roses and Skoura Oases. A pleasant stop in the Oases to visit the famous Amridil Kasbahs from the 17th century\, one of Morocco’s most authentic Kasbahs.Our way continues to Ouarzazate city known as Cinema capital of Morocco since it is a Hollywood backdrop of many international movies and series.We will visit the Touaririrt Kasabah one of the city’s main sights before we drive for more few kilometres to arrive to the famous kasbahs of Ait-Benhaddou. A Unesco- protected red mudbrick village with most of its buildings dating back to the caravans era in the\n11th century. This fortified village is also a significant backdrop for many famous films and series such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Next\, we will drive to Marrakech crossing the High Atlas Mountains\, we will enjoy the dramatic scenery of the Tizi N’tichka pass 2260m. Once we reach Marrakech\, we will drop you at your accommodation inside the old city of Marrakech. \n\n\n\n\n\n  \nDay 8 Marrakech City Tour\n\n\n\n\nYour Marrakech adventure begins with a local guide who will meet you at your Riad. Your walking tour will kick off from the renowned Djemaa El-Fa square\, a Unesco-declared site that embodies the true essence of Moroccan culture\, complete with street theatre\, acrobats\,snake-charmers\, musical performers\, and Henna tattoo artists. \nYour guide will then take you to some of Marrakech’s most iconic sights\, starting with the Kotoubia Mosque\, a 12th-century marvel\, followed by the Ali Ben Youssef Madrassa\, a former Qur’anic school that dates back over six centuries.
