I used to go to only Baga Beach and surrounding areas before I started unexplored offbeat places in this once a Portuguese dominated state and went deep into the heart of Goa.
Before we start this blog, Let me tell you how our beloved Goa came into existence. Goa was known as Govapuri and Govapuri was a port in Tiswadi Province. Tiswadi means 30 habitations. Goa which was once known as Tiswadi Islas de Goa was under Portuguese until it was annexed by India.

1. Keri Sattari:
As you know, Goa is full of offbeat gorgeous villages, one of them is Keri. 40km from Baga beach, Keri village which comes under Sattari taluka is a gem on the Goan crown. If you love the typical vibes of offbeat Goan villages, where people believe in simple living style than Keri is the one. It is famous for its Canal Foot over the bridge, which looks like a perfect shot for offbeat places lovers.
Surrounded by mountains and a forest of coconut trees, this surreal village can take you in the era of the Portuguese time zone. If you want to make it more fairy than try to go early morning to capture the sunrise, which comes from behind a mountain in the village. This one of the most offbeat destination of Goa. 2.Blue Lagoon in Cola Beach
Yes, Blue Lagoon exists in Goa as well. A circle clear water pool which is just near to the most cleared water beach of Goa named Cola Beach. If you go little south than you will find such small gorgeous beaches that you will not believe such beaches also exist and Cola beach is one of them.
This little beach offers a unique experience of a pond covered with coconut trees i.e. Blue Lagoon. Water comes from nearby waterfalls and people do kayaking also in this lagoon. Taking a dip in this lagoon with a view of col beach can take you in another world altogether.
It is 76 km from Bagha beach so you need to plan your travel. 3.Fontainhas
Fontainhas meaning in Portuguese is Little Fountain, as the name says it is the oldest Latin quarter of Panjim and is similar to a Mediterranean city. You will find bright colourful balconies painted in red, yellow, green and blue colours. The walk is called the Heritage walk.
Must visit place for those colorful photographs, which will make your friends jealous.
This is the only area in Goa, where Portuguese is still the main spoken language, Fontainhas was established by Jaa de Sequeira eighteenth century. Located at the foot of the Altinho Hills, it is bounded on the west by the hills with springs from which its name derives. (Fontainhas is Portuguese for “little fountain”.) 4.The Most Beautiful Sunset from a Hill in Aguada (Not the Fort but a Secret Spot )
No No No….It’s not typical Aguada fort but you need to go to the parking and ask anyone about the small trek towards the hill for sunset. You will pay the parking charges and from the parking area, you will go into the small forest which opens in the most gorgeous open hill location, which no-one knows.
You will also get to see the raw view of rocks from the hill and the open sea view of the mystical sunset. Just sit there and see some small boats going and the sun is going down. 5.Safa Majid
Before we start why this is the most offbeat location need a must-visit than listen to this tale. During the Adil Shah dynasty of 16th century, Goa had around 27 mosques. Most of these mosques were destroyed during the Portuguese Inquisition between 1560 and 1812. However, the Safa Masjid remained unharmed and stood tall to tell its tale.
Safa Masjid also called the Safa Shahouri Masjid is one of the oldest mosques in Goa. And with the beautiful green colours, its views are pristine. 6.Sweet Water Lake Arambol
There is one more blue lagoon within the close proximity of Baga beach. Yes, not much of the people who go to Arambol beach don’t even know that there is a sweet water lake on the very beach.
If you want to see the most perfect spot for the most romantic sunset than just walking from the corner of the Arambol’s right corner, pass all the shops you will reach the sweet water lake from where you can see the beach and sunset.

7.Church of Our Lady Mount
This place is known as the most instragammble place for the most gorgeous sunset. The place is very quiet with absolutely no tourists. The church goes unnoticed because it lies on a wooden hilltop having a sealed road around it.
In fact, while walking towards the Old church, you will still not feel the thrill of the place and will only be surrounded with beautiful pine trees.
But once you will reach the steps that lead towards the Church you will be able to see the beautiful town of Old Goa along with Mandovi river right in front of you.
